In this speech delivered in Arlington, Texas, U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico kicks off his 10-city "New American Dream Tour."

Talarico addresses the statewide affordability crisis, calls out corporate corruption, and outlines a populist economic vision focused on working-class families across Texas.

Key Highlights & Speech Pillars:

The Economic Diagnosis: Exposes the 50-year history of "trickle-down economics" since the Powell Memo and frames the current affordability crisis as a conflict between corporate special interests and working families ("Top vs. Bottom," not left vs. right).

Economic Relief for Workers: Proposals to raise the minimum wage, expand overtime pay, cut middle-class taxes, cap credit card interest rates, cancel medical debt, and strengthen labor unions.

Support for Families & Education: Investments in public education, universal childcare, paid family leave, a permanent Child Tax Credit, and down payment assistance for first-time homebuyers.

Energy Independence: Leveraging Texas's leadership in oil, gas, wind, and solar to keep energy reliable and cheap without playing partisan politics.

Technology & AI Reform: Regulating resource-heavy data centers, creating an "AI Dividend" for citizens, and funding startup grants for small entrepreneurs.

Grassroots Accountability: Talarico highlights his refusal to accept corporate PAC money and draws on his background as a former San Antonio public school teacher.
