# Raising and Taming Baby Capybaras at the Urban Rescue Ranch > Ben Christie shows how he is raising and taming baby capybaras at The Urban Rescue Ranch, and asks viewers not to visit his home. **By:** John McGillie **Published:** October 28, 2026 --- This is a June 2022 video from The Urban Rescue Ranch in which Ben Christie shows how he is raising and taming baby capybaras, including Gort. The babies are still a little skittish, so Ben spends a lot of time with them and reads nearby. Sometimes they burrow into a small blanket, and sometimes they hop onto the couch and sit on his feet. Chapters cover feeding, bottle feeding, handling escapees and bonding. His description jokes that it is a full tutorial and that Gort escapes from a high security correctional facility. Ben also shows the new fence going up and says, plainly, that he loves seeing viewers in public but asks them not to come to his home, because it is not a public park. That is a fair request, and worth passing on. Ben Christie's channel, The Urban Rescue Ranch, has about 3.4 million subscribers, and his nonprofit is [Waco Wildlife Rescue](https://wacowildliferescue.org/), which rehabilitates injured and orphaned native wildlife. 100% of merch proceeds fund the mission, and donations go through the site. A subscribe on his channel is a tiny, free way to say thanks. If you could raise any unusual animal, which one would you pick?
