Two Michiganders Who Traded Snow for the Lone Star State
We’re Marcus and Jessika “Jesi” — a married couple who packed up everything, left Michigan behind, and landed on Galveston Island, Texas. That was supposed to be just a move. It turned into a calling.
We came for the warmth and stayed for everything else — the history that drips from every small-town courthouse, the people who wave at strangers from their trucks, the food that makes you close your eyes on the first bite, and the wide-open landscapes that remind you how big the world actually is. Going back to the cold? Not a chance. Texas has us for good. 🤠
What Every Bit Texas Is All About
Every Bit Texas started because we kept discovering places, stories, and traditions that most people — even lifelong Texans — had never heard of. A forgotten cemetery in the Hill Country. A Depression-era political cartoon buried in the Library of Congress. A honky-tonk in Bandera that throws its own Mardi Gras. Texas is endlessly deep, and we wanted a place to share all of it.
So that’s what this is. Every Bit Texas is your guide to the real Lone Star State — the history, the culture, the road trips, the local festivals, the wildlife, and the people who make this place unlike anywhere else on earth. We research every post, fact-check the history, and write from the perspective of people who are genuinely obsessed with this state.
Where We’re Headed
We’re just getting started. Our plan is to travel across all 254 Texas counties and document everything we find — through photography, video, and storytelling. The small towns that don’t show up on most maps. The legends that locals whisper about at diner counters. The places where Texas history actually happened, not just where the plaques are.
